JEFA Tech Repeater Firmware 1.x to 2.x Update Instructions
DO NO PROCEED UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN ACTIVATION CODE FROM JEFA TECH.
WITHOUT AN ACTIVATION CODE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE 2.X FIRMWARE.
Since you must download a file and apply it to the repeater, you must perform this procedure with a computer (Windows or MAC). It is not possible to do this procedure with a tablet such as an iPad.
Click the link at the bottom of this page to download the firmware update file to your computer. When prompted, choose to SAVE the file to your computer. Do not try to OPEN the file. Save it in a location where you can find it such as your Desktop or your My Documents folder.
Connect to the WiFi network named jefatech-repeater, or plug into one of the four LAN ports on the back of the repeater using an Ethernet cable.
Open your web browser and go to the web address: http://192.168.123.1
Click on Administration
The repeater will require you to login. Please do so. If you do not remember your login and password, see the note* at the bottom of this document.
In the blue menu, click on Firmware Upgrade
Click the Choose File button.
Browse to the location where you downloaded the firmware file.
Find the firmware update file (it is named "jefatech-repeater-latest.bin") and select it (double-click)
Click the Upgrade button at the bottom of the page
You will see a message that it is upgrading the firmware with a countdown timer
Watch the lights on the front of the repeater. When the power light starts flashing, the firmware file has been uploaded and you should close your web browser at this time.
Continue to watch the lights on the repeater. When the power light is ON steady, and the DMZ light turns OFF, the update is complete.
Make sure you are still connected to the WiFi network named jefatech-repeater. If you are not connected, connect to it now. (if you are connected with an Ethernet cable, this does not apply)
Open your web browser again and go to http://192.168.123.1 and follow the prompts. You will be asked to enter your activation code.
Please keep a record of the activation code. If you ever do a hard reset of your repeater, you will need to enter the activation code again.
The firmware upgrade is now complete!

* If in step 7 you do not remember your login and/or password, you will need to do a full reset of the repeater. To do this, hold down the reset button on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Then allow 3 minutes for the repeater to rebuild and try connecting again. It will ask you to set up a new username and password. Once you have done this, you may continue from step 6.
